Technology is quickly taking root in all aspects of modern life. Nowadays, schools require students to use computers for homework and companies require employees to use computers for different purposes depending on the job. Unfortunately, many students from low-income communities do not have access to computers at home and have a hard time keeping up with schoolwork. Research has shown that over 5% of students are unable to access the internet. These students are cut off from valuable resources on the Internet as well as programs that makes tasks, such as writing or drawing, easier. GreenCitizen TechBridge wants to address this issue by providing San Mateo County foster children with refurbished laptops earned by foster children working in conjunction with TechBridge student volunteers.
